What to cut first
- Jobs older than 10 to 15 years, unless directly relevant.
- Duties anyone in the role would do ("answered phones").
- Bullets without a result or a specific detail.
- An objective statement or references line.
- Skills you wouldn't want to be asked about.
Section order that works on one page
Header, summary (two lines), experience, education, skills. Students and recent graduates can put education first. Aim for three to five bullets for your latest job and two to three for earlier ones.

Frequently asked questions
Is a one-page resume always best?
For most people with less than ten years of experience, yes. Longer careers can use two pages.
Can I use a smaller font to fit more?
Keep body text at 10 pt or larger. If it still doesn't fit, cut content instead.
